Issue with the motherboard not responding to any USB devices.
Hello guys, I found good deal from trusted seller on Asrock B450M-Pro4. There is one catch, as seller says, motherboard works perfectly, was used in his build, but all of a sudden all USB ports stopped working. Could there be an easy fix for that and should I risk it?
It's possible one or more USB 3.0 connectors were damaged, possibly removed and reinserted into the Front Panel Connector. This issue affected multiple ports, including the 2.0 ones, forcing a motherboard replacement. In short, it’s best to steer clear of these connections. I own a few of the same models—affordable yet reliable, not costly new purchases.
Yes, the USB3 header pin was damaged, causing all built-in ports to malfunction.
I worked with an old Gigabyte A320 board I owned. While unplugging the front panel USB connector, I found one pin had detached and lodged inside. This halted all the USB ports on the motherboard. I ended up needing a replacement motherboard, which turned out to be necessary since it required an upgrade. Luckily, the machine now includes an AsRock B450M Pro.
The reasons I’d skip it are: 1) If the issue is just a broken pin situation, the motherboard won’t work. 2) Even if the port seemed okay and had no broken pins, not having any USBs functioning worries me. The likelihood it’s just driver-related and the person hasn’t investigated yet makes me suspect something is fundamentally faulty.
It might also stem from a BIOS problem, especially if it involves the Ryzen chipset. It could be unrelated to USB connections or the MB chipset, depending on what’s failing. USBs are typically linked to separate components, but the issue could affect all ports if the CPU’s interface is compromised.
