The PC occasionally fails to power on but sometimes starts on its own or randomly. It functions fully when active. The start button doesn’t respond, and testing the motherboard pins shows no issues there. Power supply tests passed. Bridging pins 4 and 5 work to turn fans on, suggesting the problem is in the motherboard. Since a replacement seems unnecessary due to its current reliability, you might want to check other components or perform additional diagnostics.

I've encountered a comparable problem before; the issue stemmed from a damaged or faulty SATA cable. I'd suggest starting with a simpler setup to troubleshoot.
