This seems like a rather specific problem but I'm struggling to get the Dell Precision 5820 to boot when using a Tesla P100 in either of the X16 PCIe slots (Slot2 and Slot4). I've confirmed "Memory Map IO above 4GB" is enabled in the BIOS, yet nothing works. The card functions properly on my X570 desktop, so it doesn't appear the hardware is faulty. I'm using a different power supply for the P100 to my Dell, hoping for a PCIE-EPS adapter (the P100 uses 8-pin EPS but the Dell only has PCIe connectors), though I'm not sure why this would matter. The system is running a Xeon W-2145 with 4x32GB 2400MHz DDR4 RAM. Please help if you can!
It appears the BIOS configuration is incorrect. The P100 cards were designed for OEM servers, not standalone workstations. Updating the BIOS to the latest version may help, but overall the setup is still unsuitable. Cooling challenges also exist because the P100 was intended for a server chassis without its own fan. Even on a typical workstation, problems persist.
