I possess a 64GB SD card and wish to convert it into the primary storage for media files from certain apps or as the default for the gallery, storing screenshots and similar content on the card. This setup is intended for a Redmi Note 7 running MIUI 12.5.1.

I observed tenorshare formatting similar to 20% for internal storage, but the concern is about using apps on SD cards potentially harming it. Formatting as internal storage might prevent transferring the card between devices and could cause issues if you disconnect it from the phone.

It looks like you're preparing for a data transfer or formatting process. Be aware that doing this will erase everything currently stored, so backups are essential. Regarding internal storage issues, I've experienced the same 32GB Samsung Evo card across three phones over six years. After formatting it as internal storage in two devices, they're still functioning well. If you plan to use the SD card for moving files between a laptop and phone, avoid formatting it as internal storage.
