Issue with system freezing and decreasing FPS!
Hi,
I've been using GTA V (FiveM) at very high settings and have maintained around 140 FPS at 1440p resolution. My CPU usage stays around 20%, while the GPU operates at 99%. This performance is typical and even preferred according to my research. I've played smoothly for about two weeks without any problems.
But yesterday something changed. Although my CPU usage rose slightly to 25-30%, the GPU, which usually stays at 99%, began fluctuating—dropping to 65% or even as low as 10% before quickly returning to 99% within 2-3 seconds. This led to significant FPS drops and noticeable lag.
I've checked all drivers, run RAM diagnostics, and stress-tested the system without finding any faults. I'm worried this might signal an upcoming GPU failure.
For reference, I'm using 7GB/12GB video settings, so I'm not pushing my system to its limits.
Details:
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2
OS: Windows 11 Home
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
GPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE (dual tower, 6 heat pipes)
RAM: 32GB at 3600 MHz (2x 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro)
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT Mech 2X OC Edition
Storage: 1TB Netac SSD, 250GB Integral NVMe M.2 SSD (R-3350MB/s, W-1350MB/s)
PSU: Golden Field GPG 80+ Gold 650W
Monitor: ACER Nitro XV282KK @ 144Hz
I've used OCCT; CPU temperatures were 55.2°C and GPU at 50°C. Benchmarking with Heaven at 2560x1440, Full Screen Ultra gave 179 FPS.
Could this indicate a failing GPU, or is there another cause?
Thanks for your assistance.

I’ve come across this brand before due to availability locally, though it seems quite costly. It might be worth obtaining a stable unit from manufacturers like Corsair, Seasonic, MSI, or Deepcool for a more reliable experience. If the problem continues, consider borrowing or not purchasing it.
