A few days back Win 11 realized my 5.1 speaker setup wasn't actually present. I checked the stereo mode, and the "Playing Audio Troubleshooter" could fix the issue automatically during testing—each of the five speakers and sub sound worked properly. After that, something in Windows reverted it again. When I tried "Configure speakers," I selected 5.1 but the system still didn't accept it. In the Sound Device Properties, the "Jack Information" only displayed LR (Green) Rear Panel 3.5 mm Jack. Swapping cables and reconnecting would prompt confirmation, but the system kept ignoring it. I've updated, removed, reinstalled, and re-applied the audio drivers (Realtek 6.0.9689.1). On Realtek Audio Console 1.51.331.0, all six speakers are visible, yet only stereo sound appears.

Review the reliability history/monitor for audio-related error codes, warnings, or messages.
Consider executing "dism" and "sfc /scannow" to locate and resolve any corrupted files.

Dism and sfc both indicate the system is functioning correctly. I usually keep Windows updates disabled, meaning most logs show issues with the Windows Update process, but no audio problems are reported.

It might help with a Windows update or a series of updates. That way, the issue could be resolved without causing other problems. Microsoft often addresses one concern at a time as part of a larger fix.
