Issue with sudden M.2 drive not detected in BIOS settings
I have a Z790 Aurous elite ex MB with 12900kf, Zotac 3090, EVGA supernova 750G+ PSU, a WD 1TB NVMe drive, another 2TB NVMe, and I’m having trouble remembering the brand. Everything seemed fine until I tried installing a DVD burner—BIOS didn’t recognize it. After swapping SATA ports and disconnecting everything, I got a no-boot device error. When I went into BIOS, no M.2 slots appeared, even after resetting it. The boot manager still lists the drive, but BIOS shows nothing. I tried another known good M.2, which worked in other systems. What’s going on? Any advice would be great.
Do you have any Sata cable connected to the board? Some M.2 ports overlap with Sata connections, meaning only one can be used at once. Besides that, review your BIOS storage options for changes such as ACHI versus RAID settings, enabled or disabled slots, or manually assigning slots to Sata or NVMe mode.
The VMD feature was activated successfully; I wasn't sure how to turn it off, but everything is resolved. Thanks for the help! — MedicTim78
