I’m using Windows 7 on a 64-bit system for about four years now. It’s not functioning properly lately. Disk space is dwindling rapidly, leaving only a few hundred MB available. After running full CCleaner and clearing everything from the temp folder, the available size only rises to around 1 GB before dropping again. My drive is a 60 GB partition on a 500 GB Seagate hard drive. I’m considering reinstalling the OS but am unsure what steps to take.

Have you explored disc defragmentation? Moving files like documents and pictures to the cloud and removing them from your hard drive could also be beneficial. Hotmail/Outlook offers Onedrive, which can be downloaded and used from your desktop or directly via email. Purchasing an additional 500 gig drive might also help, as they are relatively affordable.

Have you performed a disk cleanup? You might also consider installing a tool named SpaceSniffer, which scans for files occupying space at http://www.uderzo.it/main_products/space...index.html

I haven't attempted a defragmentation yet, but I'm open to trying it. Additionally, I don't keep anything on that partition; my programs are saved elsewhere on the 500 GB hard drive, while I have a 1 TB drive for all my files—games, photos, documents, etc.

I only performed a disk cleanup using CCleaner, ensuring all files were verified. I can test that program to observe the results.

Consider your options carefully. Trying to create space might not always work, so evaluating whether a fresh OS installation is better could help. Reinstalling the OS won’t necessarily cause space issues faster—it depends on how it’s done.

Uncertain if posting there is the best choice. After using the SpaceSniffer app, I can track how data is being utilized. It seems certain apps can be relocated to free up space, like Heartstone and Nividia drivers.

Sure thing! The drive expanded from a few MB to 11 GB after following all the steps mentioned. Thanks a lot for the tip! I’m still hoping to get more free space. Do you think other tech lovers usually do this?

I’ve been facing the same issue, which is why I cleared everything. Now I’m puzzled again since after getting 10 GB of free space, turning off my PC left me with just 2 GB. Where did the rest disappear?
