Hi, I've been facing some unusual boot problems lately. My PC is a couple of years old and has been working well until now. After moving into a new apartment, it started having difficulties starting up. When plugged in, the fans spin, the motherboard RGB lights activate, etc., but the actual startup halts at different stages. Sometimes after starting, the DIMM light appears, stays on for a while, then I hear a "click" and all the motherboard lights turn off, CPU fans stop, etc. Other times, the DIMM LED turns on, then switches off, CPU LED lights up, followed by the same click, and everything shuts down. Occasionally it goes DIMM -> CPU -> VGA and gets stuck in that sequence. I’ve managed to fully boot and keep running normally for long periods, but there have been instances where it shut off suddenly after a while.

Could this be related to a power issue? I own a high-quality Corsair power supply with plenty of wattage, so I’m not sure if the hardware itself is the problem. The apartment is old (pre-1978) but recently renovated—did that affect anything? Have others experienced similar issues, and what solutions did they use?

If the computer specifications match:
MB: x570-plus
CPU: ryzen 3900X
GPU: 6700XT
power supply: RM650 or 750 (purchased ahead of time because of GPU shortage, and it should handle this build)
I'm considering replacing the power supply with a wall socket surge protector to check if that resolves the issue. I hope it didn't get damaged from power surges—maybe I just caught a hint of solder smell after shutdown, but I'm not sure.

The surge protector alone wasn't effective, but together with a fresh power source the problem appears resolved. It seems the power supply was harmed by a lightning-induced surge.
