Hi there, I have a special issue to share. Recently I purchased a bigger SSD and thought I could clone the previous one to skip reinstalling Windows. That didn’t work, and I faced problems installing the new OS on the updated drive. Eventually, I fixed it by using the old SSD and formatting the new one from OS to GPT. Everything functioned properly afterward. After turning off the system, unplugging the old drive and thinking I was finished, it failed to boot and displayed an MBR error 1. I tried several steps: unplugged everything except the SSD, used Windows Startup Repair, and then reinstalled the old drive with the correct order—Windows booted fine. Now I’m wondering if I can repair the boot process so I could safely remove the old SSD now that it’s no longer needed. Let me know your thoughts!

Install the new SSD and perform a clean installation from the beginning.

It didn't work either. I realized the system is now set up for dual booting, meaning the old setup won't start by itself. Confused

Recreate the old system accurately this time using Macrium Reflect Rescue USB. Start from a fresh installation and then connect the old drive afterward. I’ve repeated this process many times, so here’s a clear step-by-step guide you can use.
