Issue with SMD or filter on the back side of the motherboard
Hello. I recently assembled my new build and placed the motherboard in case there were any issues with SMD or filters on the back side. So far, everything seems to be working properly. I’ll share some photos and ask if anyone recognizes it or knows why this happened. Thanks. Edited January 25, 2024 by Matty91
Sorry, it seems the issue is that the red circle appears too small. Could you clarify what you mean by "what's going on"?
Many motherboard filters exist, often extra for handling capacitor wear over time. It’s likely they’re present just in case. Sometimes manufacturers remove them during production, leaving pads bare. On the board’s back, if you notice empty pads without a visible capacitor, it probably wasn’t there originally.
I didn't review the first photo. I'm sharing what's faulty now.
It seems like there should be filtering capacitors present, but the board shows scratches. If it still functions properly at idle and under load, it might be okay. If you're concerned about future issues, returning the board would be a safe option, especially since it's a new build. You're ultimately in charge of the decision.
When I put the board in place with pins in the holes, I notice a problem. Rokie, that’s a mistake. After stress testing the PC for a few hours, everything is functioning properly now.
