Issue with Skyrim modding
Issue with Skyrim modding
I frequently play Skyrim, especially with various mods. I use NMM for installing and downloading them. Initially, around 80 mods were installed, mainly graphics ones like ENB, and everything functioned well until a recent NMM update. First, the game launched in 720p and switched to windowed mode post-update—this wasn’t too bothersome since I could easily adjust settings. Afterward, everything ran smoothly and my mods displayed their effects properly. However, once I entered the game, I noticed missing water effects; it appeared transparent, making fish seem to swim in mid-air. It felt like a normal surface but without proper texture. I’m also using Real Vision ENB and Realistic Water Two. I adjusted all ENBLocal and Skyrim prefabs according to the ENB documentation, but after the update, the water issue persisted. It wasn’t as if I’d installed a new ENB or other mods; it was just the update that caused the problem.
You're looking for a mod organizer and want to follow the Gophers tutorial series. It really makes a difference! I've successfully completed it without running into issues with NMM, though it doesn't solve every problem directly. I tried to assist however I could.
Everything is covered in the Gophers video. If you updated to the newest version, you might need to reinstall your mods. During the update it attempts to save your earlier mod list and you'll have to reinstall them. Just double-click on them again in the mod list. When I upgraded NMM, my previous mods were saved correctly. So it should be straightforward—just have 80 installed. I have 247 plugins plus retextures, totaling over 300.
The latest version of Nexus Mod Manager brought significant changes to their new profile system, which meant your existing mods needed updating. It was unavoidable that this would lead to problems. Consider using LOOT to sort your mods and TESVEdit to verify your game loads properly before proceeding. If issues arise, you may need to uninstall and reinstall them in the original sequence.
