In the CSV file it appears the single cores operate smoothly at 4850mhz during your test, matching the advertised 4.9ghz quite well (you even reached 4900mhz a few times). The CPU alternates between cores, shifting frequencies like jumping from 4850mhz to 4825mhz and so on. This is typical behavior according to what I understand. One core becomes too warm at that frequency, allowing another to handle the load. When you reach 4900mhz, there’s no cause for concern. Does your single core performance meet your expectations?
So I'm misunderstanding something. I thought that a Single Core workload like Cinebench would boost one Core and sustain that boost for the entire duration. But it's always in short bursts. Here's a Screenshot mid testing. Looking at my temps and power draw I get the feeling there's more potential. Is that just Cinebench? I tried the CPU-Z Benchmark it looks good. Multi Thread Clocks are around 4.3-4.4 and Single Thread is around 4.8GHz. I started to look into this because I noticed that sometimes in Games my CPU is not doing much and not running on high clock speeds while my GPU sits at 80%. I noticed that in FF16 in some areas and scenes. Same with Mass Effect 1 Legendary Edition. In some areas my CPU is at 10-15%, GPU at 25% and I have 35-40 FPS. So I was wondering wether this is normal or if I did some bad settings and bottlenecked myself. I added the rest of my PC Setup in the initial post.
Ideally 5950X should operate at 5050MHz on a single core. On the 5900X and 5950X, the actual clocks run 100MHz higher than advertised. For example, the 5900X has a default boost of 4950MHz; adding PBO +200 brings it to 5150MHz. Applying the proper tuning would yield a 5250MHz boost on the 5950X. The 5800X achieves 5050MHz with PBO +200, while the 5600X reaches 4850MHz using the same setting.
Hey! I noticed an issue with 5950x too. It shows up in CPU-Z and 3DMark Time Spy. For instance, my optimized CPU could hit 700 points in a single-threaded test in cpuZ, but now it's only 660. The same goes for the 3DMark CPU test—my score was 16400, but I expect around 14000. I haven't made any changes yet. My OC settings are stable, I just updated all drivers and installed fresh Windows. Still nothing.
