Hey there, I’m struggling with my third or fourth try of installing Arch. It seems like none of the guides I found work for me. The issue is that my partitions appear as /dev/nvme0n1px instead of the expected /dev/sdx. When I partition /nvme0n1p4 using cfdisk (for EFI, swap, and Linux filesystem), it shows up in cfdisk but doesn’t show up when I run lsblk in the terminal. I took a screenshot of the partition names, but when I attempt to format the swap partition, it says it can’t open and there’s no file or directory. I’m not sure what’s going on, especially since none of the tutorials I watched described this problem. I’m a beginner, have tried a few distros, and even used Zorin on my school laptop. Please don’t be upset—I’m just trying to figure this out. I’m using a Dell G15 5510 and want to dual boot with Windows 11. I made a 175GB simple partition in Windows before, so I’d really appreciate any help you can give me. If I missed something, let me know!

Instead of ArchInstall, you could explore the official documentation. The mention of NVMe relates to the interface type, while SDSKI refers to a storage format commonly used with SATA devices.

I attempted to install Arch from scratch the first time, but it failed and wiped out my entire Windows setup. Now that I’ve learned a bit more, I’ll give it another try—hope it works this time. Appreciate your help!

It's been a while since I set up Arch, and I believe they've made the ArchInstall script much better. Right now I'm using Debian because I don't need the latest Arch features. I'm not sure if that's accurate, but maybe the people watching were installing Arch on a virtual machine? Either way, good luck! Someone with more Arch experience should probably help me out.

They were using different setups—some on virtualbox, others on the actual hardware—but nothing worked. I’m planning to look up the wiki for guidance.

I found the solution! On Windows you need to keep the area you wish to use free, and then in cfdisk during partitioning it appears in lsblk. I'm really pleased with this.

Great news! You're now able to exclaim... "I use Arch BTW!"
