I received a 2TB Seagate drive from Amazon, this is my second replacement, but both drives are making that strange noise. Anyone has any idea what could be causing it? I also saw something on YouTube that looks similar. Thanks for the info! IMG_4432.MOV

Are you seeing features similar to HwInfo active? Typically, this triggers the drive for a self-check every two seconds, which produces the characteristic noise during operation.

I’m not sure about your question. Could you clarify what you’d like to check?

Typically, you can tell if hardware monitoring tools were installed.

In short, the drive itself appears fine, but the YouTube video seems to have a resemblance.

Hey there, I looked into it and don’t think I’m missing any hardware monitoring tools. Even if I did, it seems like all the drives would be impacted, which explains the noise you’re hearing. Since I have another Seagate drive—this one is a 1TB model—it doesn’t make any sounds at all.

Not always, certain drives operate much quieter than others. However, if you're lacking any equipment, it's unlikely to be the main cause...
