Hello, I've been having issues with my Sapphire RX 580 GPU (4GB) that crashes every time I load a game. After adjusting the MSI Afterburner settings—downclocking the core clock to 1300, memory clock to 1900, and power limit to -5—it now works properly. I'm curious about the reason for the crash with factory settings. My PC specs are: Ryzen 5 1600X CPU, ASRock B350 Gaming K4 motherboard, 16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, and a Seasonic M12II-520 EVO Bronze 520W power supply. This is my first post on the forum, so I apologize if I made any spelling mistakes and appreciate your help!

Consider upgrading to a more recent 550w power supply, as the M12II model is quite old.

According to what I've heard, this PSU performs well and the GPU stays under 100 watts!

It was good in the past, but not up to today's standards.

I understand the M12-II isn't among the top choices anymore, but it still performs better than many others that struggle with powering an Rx580. This mainly affects drivers and bios, which often clash with the latest Windows 10 Creators edition. Before investing in a new PSU, ensure your bios is up to date—possibly through multiple steps since some updates aren't direct. Also, confirm your GPU drivers are current and that all motherboard chipset drivers (audio, LAN, PCIe, etc.) are also up to date. You can check these on the motherboard support or downloads page. I'd also clean the system with ccleaner, run a registry cleanup, and verify any temp files or orphaned entries. Did you use DDU via guru3d.com in safe mode to remove old GPU drivers before installing new ones?

Which one? A brand new update of AMD drivers instead of the old? Or NVIDIA? Should I use Windows to remove the outdated drivers?

A new installation of Windows will remove all motherboard chipset drivers. You'll have to download and install them from the official website. Windows provides only basic drivers that handle simple tasks such as connecting to a monitor, but it lacks advanced features like GPU drivers. This can sometimes cause problems with performance.
