It must be an NVIDIA GPU, and you can only use it when rendering in the media encoder.

Yes, I would recommend making your gpu compatible. Here is some asian who is hard to understand so just mute him and watch this video it should help. I know it does not show for AMD but I think AMD should work. If not then if After Effects is important to you I would get a 960 or 970
