Hello, I upgraded my computer a long time ago. I had a GTX 1080 Ti with 2700x, thinking it might be the bottleneck. I experienced frame drops, like around 120 fps in Overwatch. I sold my GPU and got a 5600x ProProcessor and a 1060 6GB RAM. That gave me a stable 250 fps! Now I received a free RTX 2080 Ti from a friend, and my Overwatch FPS dropped from 600 to 220 quickly. I really wanted consistent 300 or 500 fps like with my 1060, but I’m unsure. Thanks for your help.

09-08-2020, 05:27 PM #3The system has no bottleneck. Playing at 1080p with epic settings typically averages around 250. At 1440p you'd see about 180-200, and 4K around 90. Both 5600x and 2080 can handle any 1080p game. You might want to use MSI Afterburner or HWInfo to track CPU and GPU temps and clocks; you can also share the screen while playing so I can check it. Did you turn on PBO? What power supply do you have, and have you enabled XMP?

09-08-2020, 05:47 PM #4I run games at the lowest configurations and prefer an 80% resolution because the red line looks clearer from afar. I’ve got afterburner enabled but don’t have much experience with overclocking, so I’m not sure if it’s necessary. My power supply is an 850 watt gold unit with 80+ certification. I aim for a stable frame rate of around 250 fps with slightly improved graphics, and I plan to test medium settings when I’m back from work. I’ll let you know how it goes.

09-08-2020, 07:45 PM #5I experimented with enhancing the graphics and adjusting the resolution, but I still experience minor FPS drops, ranging from 249 to 220. I even increased my CPU to 4.4GHz, and temperatures remain normal.

09-09-2020, 12:54 AM #6You mentioned the Ryzen 5 5600X and noticed a performance change after overclocking. Despite the turbo boost being at 4.6 GHz by default with PBO enabled, the frame rate dropped only slightly, which is typical.

09-09-2020, 02:35 AM #7You're correct about the resolution, but your monitor only supports 1080p. Trying to upscale to 1440p won't help. Setting the display to "Epic" mode and capping FPS at 240 might improve performance. It could affect latency slightly, but it should be manageable.
