Issue with refresh rate and resolution on Nvidia devices
Your laptop runs a Nvidia 3060 GPU with a 1920*1080p 144Hz monitor. After adjusting settings in the Nvidia control panel, the external display now shows 4K at 60Hz, even though your monitor doesn’t support that resolution. It seems the GPU is sending incorrect resolution and refresh rate data to the external screen. You’ve tried customizing refresh rate and resolution in both Windows Display and the Nvidia panel, but it always returns to 4K 60Hz. The reset shortcut and clearing the external monitor cache didn’t resolve the issue. Someone can assist by checking GPU settings, ensuring correct driver versions, or testing with a different external display.
Check if HDR is active, as it might cause issues. I haven’t noticed it doing this before, but I’m not sure.
In the NVIDIA control panel, choose the correct 1920x1080 resolution at 144Hz or adjust the scaling mode to CPU rather than GPU.
If the display isn't showing correctly, I recommend running DDU and performing a new installation.
I'm using TK, DDU, and redo. Adjusting settings often puts you in trouble, so a factory reset is the best option. Back then, when I was studying MDADM, I probably reset my NAS several times in just three months.
