Issue with RAM speed increase not working.
Hi, I saw your situation with the Corsair 2x8GB 3600MHz Pro SL. You tried to push it to 4000MHz but it didn’t start. After a CMOS reset it booted, though with slower timings and crashes in games. Now you can’t do any more RAM overclocking because the PC won’t boot, and you’re seeing an Overclock failure message. Need advice on what to do next?
Just performed another CMOS reset, but results remain the same. My motherboard is an MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Plus, and I have an i7 10700KF processor.
I adjusted several settings and reached the maximum voltage of 5 volts. You may have risked damaging the RAM; consider resetting the BIOS back to defaults if needed. Your motherboard restarts to its most recent stable state, unless you select specific pins.
I adjusted frequency, timing, and voltage, which likely harmed the RAM. Adding only 300mV probably kept it under 1.400v even in XMP mode. Resetting to the last stable setting fixed the issue, and the PC functions normally. Overclocking the RAM causes instability again.
