on what component are you checking?
if it's the CPU, thermal throttling is likely.
64C is the maximum temperature the CPU can handle at -

Are you using an air cooler?
Have you cleared any dust from inside recently? Cleaning the fans can help reduce temperatures inside the case.

Yes, if you cleaned the fans two weeks ago, it's a good idea to reapply thermal paste.

thermal paste could assist, especially since it's only recently become an issue after six years. the tp on my gpu ran out after five years. that makes sense.
