It’s unlikely DDR4-3600 will work with the board. The manufacturer only officially backs DDR4-3466 using XMP support.

I initially had a 3400g unit that worked fine at 3600 with the XMP profile, but after upgrading to the 3600 model, I’m experiencing problems now.

The performance of the Integrated Memory Controller within the CPU also matters, and this can differ between different processors. Exceeding the JEDEC standard for DDR4-2666 on Ryzen requires adjusting the IMC settings.

It seems you're just starting out here. Your main concern is memory issues in dual-channel mode—your system works with one module but not with two. You also wonder if there might be compatibility problems with Zen 2 chips.

What kind of CPU cooler are you employing? Is it possibly too snug? If you compress the cooler EXCESSIVELY, pressing down on the CPU with too much force, you might harm the IMC—the most delicate component in the chip that restricts its performance. This can restrict you to a single-channel setup.
