Cleaning install of Windows 10 on a laptop using genuine Windows 8 won’t require a new product key. The product key remains valid for Windows 10.

Sure, just set up Windows 8 and upgrade for free to Windows 10 using that trick.

The device includes a Windows 8 license, not Windows 8.1. The product key should function correctly in Windows 8.1.

I attempted multiple times to switch to Windows 8.1, but each time I encounter issues and can't proceed.

8.1 is a paid update that appears to be available. I upgraded through my 8 Pro license and a special loophole, but it seems you can't jump straight from 8 to 10.
