Issue with processor performance
Issue with processor performance
Hello everyone, I'm facing a couple of issues here but haven't found any fixes. To start, I really dislike using Windows 10. Alright, let me share more details about my PC. It's a gaming laptop about a year and a quarter old. It comes with an i7 7700hq and a GTX 1060 6GB. Note that it's labeled as a desktop GPU and the specs suggest a version more suited for a desktop. It's currently running Windows 10 version 1803. Now the problems: The CPU is operating at half its speed when using battery power, which is really frustrating. I just wish I could uninstall Windows 10 and reinstall Windows 7 again. Normally it runs at 2.80Ghz, but on battery it drops to a maximum of 1.60Ghz—way too slow for my needs. The power plan is set to maximum, and the battery indicator also shows the highest performance mode. I've tried everything so far, but nothing seems to work. I can't adjust the screen brightness anymore; I found one workaround, but I'm not comfortable with it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is really important to me. Thanks in advance for your help.
Switch the Windows power settings to a preferred configuration.
I've already attempted that—balanced, power-saving, and performance settings. It doesn't work; even adjusting advanced options didn't help. I discovered another workaround, but it forces the CPU to run at full capacity constantly, which isn't ideal for a laptop. Not a suitable fix.
I made a minor adjustment to the screen brightness. I installed a completely different screen driver, not the original one, which resolved the issue. Now everything functions properly. The CPU problem remains the only remaining concern. Please share any updates if you have them.
