In short, I've been fine-tuning my overclocking process using Prime95 for stability checks. I set it up to mimic a blend test with built-in FFT on one core, ensuring the hyperthreading/SMT is enabled and manually choosing cores via Task Manager. Everything was working smoothly until I tried running tests across all cores. The problem now is that Task Manager shows low CPU usage on some cores while frequency and power readings vary. It doesn’t seem linked to thermal or power limits, which are stable. No one else has mentioned this issue, though. Also, I know Prime95 puts a heavy load on CPUs and can cause clock drops under stress. With the -30 curve set to all cores, I can hit 4.6GHz, but clocks, power, and utilization drop unpredictably. I’m not sure if it’s related to Prime95 itself.

Test results show blended performance is less demanding on CPU cores compared to other tests. Employing smaller FFTs provides the greatest challenge for the processor. Core utilization will vary, with some fluctuating during execution. Blend represents a more typical workload. I’ll keep the default settings and let Prime95 proceed from there. Random core activity will occur, causing temporary spikes in load, which is expected.
