I just installed the chipset drivers from AMD website, there were around six of them. I haven’t done that before. Why is the xmp profile not enabled? I turned it on in the BIOS? Do I need to update the BIOS? How can I do that?
I actually noticed a very slight drop in my benchmark score after making those changes.
It was never meant to solve your issue since you can run them in either direction and you were already using dual channel. It’s suggested you start by filling A2 (second slot) and B2 (fourth slot) first:
"For best results, when turning on Dual Channel mode with two memory modules, we advise placing them in the DDR4_A2 and DDR4_B2 slots."
This advice comes from the motherboard manual and is standard across other boards as well. The reason your scores are a bit lower isn’t clear—maybe just a coincidence, as there will always be minor differences between benchmark tests.
I’d consider checking GPU-Z next to quickly verify.
