Issue with PC startup following adjustments to the AIO placement.
I assembled my initial complete system around two months back, with every component brand new. Until recently, everything functioned smoothly until the AIO began producing a strong grinding sound. I decided to power down the machine and attempt a repair. At that moment, I was playing Cyberpunk, and the temperatures rose into the high 90s. I thought maybe the pump was struggling to circulate air, so I mounted it on top of my case instead of the side to expel any residual pressure. However, now when I try to start the computer, it fails completely. All parts are illuminated (GPU, AIO, fans, motherboard, etc.), but none of the external devices—monitor, keyboard, mouse—are working. When I power it back on, the AIO continues to emit that noise, though it’s much quieter sometimes, or not at all. The DRAM indicator flashes and then turns off, the CPU indicator flashes and shuts down, then repeats, while the DRAM stays lit. I’ve reset the CPU, cleared the CMOS, and reinserted the RAM (using one stick each), but I still can’t determine what’s happening. In case the AIO fails completely—which would be concerning since I purchased it just two months ago—I’ve limited its boot attempts to a brief period before shutting it down. I’m unsure if I’ll need to replace the AIO, but I want the system to at least start, right?
Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7 7800x3d
Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX
Memory: 2x16 G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB
CPU Cooler: Lian Li Galahad II Trinity Performance
GPU: Radeon RX 6800XT
PSU: Corsair RM1000x
Edit: I also didn’t note that the AIO pump remains lit even when the PC is powered down, if that’s useful.
It seems like a serious issue with the bearing failure, probably inside the pump. The AIO is connected via the CPU_FAN header. If it sends RPM feedback to MoBo for booting, that’s necessary. Otherwise, MoBo will stop the PC to prevent further damage. Regarding the warranty, I can explain the reason but you’ll need to consult the specific terms.
Yes, the AIO is linked to the CPU_FAN header at the top. It's reassuring to know there are protections in place to prevent damage to my CPU. Unfortunately, I discarded the box and received it carelessly, which means I lack the serial number or proof needed for warranty registration. I think I'll need to save a bit more money and purchase a replacement. Thanks for your assistance.
