Hey everyone, I’m trying to figure this out.
Recently, my PC keeps shutting down and restarting while playing games such as Dead Frontier 2 and Overwatch 2. The screen goes black, but the RAM lights stay on and the fans spin. After a short pause, it restarts without a BSOD.

Here are my details:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF
Graphics: EVGA RTX 3060 12GB
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M DS3H
RAM: 16GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4-3200
Power Supply: Corsair CX550 (bought mid-2020)
Storage: Dying Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD (current boot drive), Mushkin Vortex LX 2TB SSD (secondary), Samsung 990 Pro 4TB (not installed yet)
Case: Lian Li Lancool II Mesh
Operating System: Windows 10

What I’ve observed:
These crashes only occur during gaming, not when idle or doing light work.
No overheating so far, but I’m preparing to install MSI Afterburner for monitoring.
The PSU is an older CX550 model, which might be a concern for the RTX 3060.
I’ve already filed an RMA with Corsair just in case.

Could it be that my GPU is drawing too much power? Or is the PSU beginning to fail after years of use? Any suggestions on testing or narrowing down the problem would be really helpful. Thanks ahead!

Is this the PSU you're using? If yes, it includes a 5-year warranty, and you're near the RMA deadline. To eliminate your PSU as the cause, try replacing it with a well-built one that supports 650W for your whole system and check if the problem continues. Also, note that the RTX 3000 series GPUs were most affected by temporary load spikes.

It might be a PSU problem or a RAM issue; consider disabling locking RAM and setting it to 2666, which is the supported speed you can safely use.
