Issue with PC random restarts?
Issue with PC random restarts?
Hello, friends. After six years, I chose to build a new PC.
Initially, I purchased these parts:
• AMD Ryzen 5 7500F
• MSI MB X670E GAMING PLUS WIFI AM5 DDR5 7800MHz (OC)
• G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB 6000MHz CL30 16x2 GB
• Kingston Renegade 1TB M.2 SSD
My old Thermaltake 600W power supply had a 504W output, which was insufficient. My GPU was an MSI RX580 Armor with 8GB RAM.
After assembling everything and installing Windows 11 Pro, I began noticing random restarts, particularly during gameplay in PUBG. The timing was unpredictable.
Through online research, I discovered the power supply might be the root cause, so I upgraded to a Corsair RM750e 750W PSU. This reduced the issues somewhat, though restarts persisted.
I then tried Windows 10, but during driver installation for the RX580, my PC restarted 3–4 times at the “Would you like to make this change?” prompt. I couldn’t finish the setup, so I returned to Windows 11.
I conducted several stress tests using OCCT, Furmark, Memtest86, and AIDA64, but no crashes or restarts occurred. The only unmodified component was the GPU.
Eventually, I opted for an ASUS TUF 4070 SUPER. This resolved the restarts while playing PUBG. However, after exiting the game and downloading on Steam, I encountered extremely low FPS in GTA V before the PC restarted again.
After a restart, I reopened Steam. Without launching any games, my PC restarted 3–4 times more often, and I observed the CPU fan spinning very fast.
Has anyone else faced a similar problem? I think the issue could relate to the SSD, motherboard, RAM, or CPU. All stress tests completed without errors or crashes.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
I own an old Thermaltake 600W power supply, but its 12V output was 504W. My GPU is an MSI RX580 Armor with 8GB RAM.
What model and age of your Thermaltake PSU?
I upgraded to the MSI MB X670E GAMING PLUS WIFI AM5 DDR5 7800MHz (OC).
Which BIOS version are you running on your motherboard?
I switched back to Windows 11.
Did you reinstall the bootable USB installer to check for corruption? Did you disconnect all drives except the one you wanted to install the OS onto? Did you install the operating system in offline mode?
How do you keep the processor cool? What is your case model and make?
I bought an ASUS TUF 4070 SUPER. After that, I didn’t notice any restarts while playing PUBG. But when I exited the game and started downloading on Steam, launching GTA V caused extremely low FPS before the PC restarted abruptly again.
Did you use DDU to remove all GPU drivers (Intel, AMD, Nvidia) in Safe Mode? Did you manually install the latest driver from Nvidia’s support site using an elevated command?
-The Thermaltake TRS-600AH2NK 600W 80+ PSU with 12cm Fan has been in use since 2019 without any issues with my previous computer.
-The most recent BIOS update for the motherboard is 31/12/2024.
-Yes, I connected it using a USB drive. The system currently has only one SSD installed. No, it didn't install during offline mode.
-I own a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE RGB tower cooler. My case model is Thermaltake v200tg. The auxiliary lead on the front aux input failed and couldn't be removed. I'm worried it might cause a short circuit, but it worked fine in my old system.
-I updated to the latest Nvida version but didn't use DDU. Upon turning on the PC, the AMD driver was deleted automatically.
Appreciate your help.
I've been using this unit since 2019 and didn't encounter any issues with my previous system.
