Issue with PC displaying "Power surge error" despite failure to power on.
He shared his experience with me. He plugged in his USB charger for the shaver but received an error about a power surge in the port. He mentioned leaving his computer on before going out, and when he returned, his mouse wasn’t working. After restarting, it wouldn’t turn back on. He noted that the LED lights were visible inside the computer. He sent me a video for reference. I’m not very skilled at hardware troubleshooting, but I managed to get him to remove all USBs and try using just one monitor, though it didn’t work. Here’s the video—hope it’s clear enough.
Ignore no hints from the machine. If it warns of a USB power surge, disconnect the device immediately and avoid leaving it powered on. Disconnect the computer, remove the CMOS battery for 30 seconds, then reinsert it. Also, refrain from using the computer to charge devices—use a standard USB port with the adapter that comes with the shaver.
Yeah I mentioned not to do that.
I got him to take out the CMOS battery and it seemed to help. The fans were making more noise from the PC, etc. But the monitor isn't showing any signal anymore. He did a few basic things, but nothing worked. I'm not 100% sure the issue is fixed.
Operating a computer as a power source for grooming tools and other tech tasks is not recommended. USB devices have specific guidelines, and a Chinese razor would likely violate many of them, particularly regarding power consumption. The manual probably suggests using a wall adapter instead.
