Issue with my processor overheating to 100°C during game launches
I know my CPU isn't overclocked and its idle temperature stays between 40 to 50°C. When launching specific games, it spikes to high temperatures and then gradually lowers. My Intel® Core i7-8700K reached a peak of 3.70GHz during Minecraft, but similar behavior occurs in Overwatch and Warzone. Steam games don’t seem to be impacted by this issue.

I'm dealing with an iBUYPOWER Snowblind Element Gaming Case and an iBUYPOWER 120mm Addressable RGB Liquid Cooling System.
Check the manual or manufacturer website for VCore details. For BIOS, look for auto settings under power management or voltage controls.
Use the Sensors-only mode in HWiNFO and scroll down until you find VCore. Did someone install your cooler correctly? Were they skilled with quality thermal paste and proper application? Excessive voltage could be an issue, or the heatsink might not fit well. Identify your motherboard model by checking the manual or searching for a YouTube tutorial on adjusting CPU voltage.
Sorry for the delayed reply. My motherboard is an ASRock Z390 PHANTOM GAMING 4-IB with 802.11ac WiFi, USB 3.1 (1 Type-C, 3 Rear, 4 Front), made from ASRock Super Alloy. The cooler was installed and I’m using thermal paste. I don’t know the exact brand, but here are my results.
Your CPU VCore voltage seems normal. You could slightly reduce it, but it won’t noticeably affect temperatures. It’s likely another factor at play—perhaps your cooler isn’t performing well, is faulty, or wasn’t installed properly. Reinstalling it would be a good first step. If you install your own cooler, you’ll avoid worrying about someone else’s setup. This process is straightforward.
