Hello friends, I’m looking for some advice on this issue. I came across several videos earlier about the RX 5700 model and its VRAM cooling problems. There was also a video from GamersNexus for the MSI Evoke 5700XT. After using Afterburner, I noticed similar issues with my graphics temperature staying around 70°C (hotspot at 80°C) while my memory temps approached 92°C. This is especially concerning since it’s winter in Spain, but summers here are very hot. Today, after some time, I checked the GPU and found the same situation described in those videos. The thermal pads weren’t covering much of the VRAM, and in some cases only a thin strip was present. I also saw that one of the VRM pads wasn’t placed directly on the pad but on a fin cooler attached to the side. Despite replacing the pads, the problem persisted. I tried using 1.5mm TP-3 pads from Arctic, which most sources say are better, but they recommended 2mm for optimal performance. Reading reviews, people switched to 1.5mm right away because 2mm seemed even worse. When I mounted the heatsink, I noticed a small gap allowing heat to escape, suggesting poor contact. The temperature stayed stable, so it didn’t get worse. I also broke a fan blade to balance noise, but it didn’t help much. In short, it’s not making any noticeable noise except for the obvious one. What should I do? Should I stick with 2mm pads or look for 1.5mm ones? Is this temperature normal and should I accept it? Are the reviews accurate? Thanks in advance.
