Issue with memory handling on a newly assembled PC?
Hello, I just finished assembling my new PC and right after installing Windows encountered a MEMORY_MANAGEMENT error (five times so far, with only one kernel security check incident). Eventually, Windows installed successfully and I ran MEMTEST, which revealed over 7000 errors (that’s a lot). I’ve tried reseating the RAM in various slots, re-seating the CPU, testing each stick separately to check for damage. So far, none of these fixes have worked. The system even froze into a boot loop when I enabled XMP profiling and had to reset the BIOS. I also updated the BIOS to the latest firmware yesterday. Any advice or information would be really helpful.
Side notes: I kept an eye on temperatures, they never exceeded 50°C at any time. I don’t have another DDR5 RAM stick available for testing right now. The memory management issue seems to appear only when installing new software, not during benchmarking.
Specs:
Motherboard: MSI Z690 Gaming Edge WiFi
RAM: Corsair DDR5 64gb Platinum
PSU: Corsairs RM1000x
Graphics card: MSI RTX 4080
CPU: Intel i9-12900k 3.20ghz 12th gen
OS: Windows 10
A lot of emotional tears were shed.
I performed memtest on a single drive, yet attempted each drive individually to test the system. Consistent crashes occurred.
You're considering returning the motherboard for a newer version, based on reports of problems with the mpg z690. It seems you're weighing the pros and cons before making a decision.
It's a challenging decision. If you could specify the cooler model, it would help simplify the choice. It might be easier to confirm if the issue lies elsewhere. Just let me know what cooler you're using so I can assist better. Next step would be inspecting your CPU/socket for any gold residue or debris.
I just checked the AIO three times recently and didn't see anything unusual, though I might have missed something. I also tried reseating the CPU and AIO to be sure, but the same error persisted. My AIO model is the Corsair iCUE H150i Elite CAPELLIX XT. I'll provide an update once the motherboard is replaced. If not, I'm pretty sure it's faulty RAM, I think.
New motherboard displays red light on DRAM during startup, identical to the previous one. No other components show red light. Uncertain about next steps; considering replacing faulty RAM but seeking professional advice.
Final update: It seems Corsair sent me two defective RAM sticks. I swapped the main RAM for a fresh set and the MemTest passed without any issues. Additionally, there have been no crashes in the past 24 hours. Hope this assists anyone facing the same problem!
