Issue with memory consumption
Issue with memory consumption
recently i observed my pc wasn’t operating smoothly, so i opened task manager and saw the ram usage didn’t match what was happening. In the users tab it showed 5.5gb of ram active, likely from a game, but performance data indicated over 10gbs were being used. It’s been making my system run poorly. From what i’ve seen online, i suspect a miner virus might be exploiting my hardware. I recently started playing batman arkham again, as the game is very mod-friendly and i worry a mod could be causing this issue. I cleared windows completely and restarted, but the problem persists. I’m trying to fix it without losing my investment in the machine and would really appreciate any advice or help. If needed, i’m open to getting it professionally checked for a reset. a 10600kf cpu, asus rog 1080ti gpu, tforce 16g ram at 3600mhz, asus prime b560m with two ssds, western digital black power supply, samsung 870sata psu, corsair 750.
I also cleaned the system manually using this approach, but the issue remains.
Share pictures of your Taskmanager showing three views: one sorted by Memory usage, another by CPU usage, and a default screen displaying the Performance page. Include as much detail as possible from each image. You can use any free drawing tool like MS Paint to hide any personal info before posting. Consider adding a screenshot of the Startup page so we can check what loads when Windows starts. Ask if you're experiencing memory issues under normal or heavy load, or if you're seeing the full memory usage reported by Windows, which accounts for caching and app needs. It's possible a mod is causing a leak—try disabling each one individually to see if it resolves the problem. If not, restart one at a time until you identify the culprit.
