First of all, thoroughly clean the fans and the heatsink(as much as you can without removing the shroud). A dust and a toothbrush should do. Might as well do that for all the fans in the system, including filters. Try speeding up intake fans a bit, if there's headroom. A simple maintenance can drop a few degrees. Also, 80C on a 3070 is just fine. If you feel comfortable with disassembly, replace the paste on the GPU with a Honeywell- PTM7950 pad . Also, set your max GPU power to 95% in MSi Afterbutner

I'm not sure if I'm ready to take apart the GPU, but I'll clean it with air and toothpick as suggested. I'll let you know the outcome and then set the GPU power to 95%. Thanks!
I don't agree. The issue lies in thermal conductivity and heat removal when running at 80°C. At 100% fan speed, you'll see a minimum temperature rise of about +10°C on the GPU hotspot. This means even with optimized fans, the system will quickly reach its maximum temperature limit. A more effective approach is to design the setup for a smoother, logarithmic temperature curve—keeping the same 80°C but allowing fans to operate at higher efficiency, ideally around 85-90% RPM or better with proper surface prep like putty and PTM.
They adjusted the curve so the fan increased speed to 50% at 80°, with peaks at 50%. Why does it reach 100% at 80°? Could be a software issue. It makes sense for the GPU to limit performance if the angle goes past 83°. If not, there must be another factor involved.
