I discovered a MacBook on eBay and when I inquired about the issue, the seller provided their explanation. However, it's hard to understand exactly what the problem is. They mentioned it seems to function normally except when not charged, then it powers down and reports it can't locate the operating system. Resetting the NVRAM seems to help if it's plugged in, but the battery replacement they suggested has already been done yet the issue persists.
