Hello. I'm using a MacBook Pro 13 from around 2010. The issue is: My default EFI bootloader only works with CD/DVD or Windows partitions formatted on MRB. When I try to boot Linux Live USBs or even Windows installers, the bootloader doesn't recognize any USB device. Formatting my Windows partition is only possible via DVD, which feels outdated and slow... I'm sure this doesn't happen on today's Macs. In short, I believe my machine has EFI but behaves more like BIOS. I also want to boot Windows and Linux partitions as quickly as modern EFI systems allow.

You're aware that Macs perform better when paired with other operating systems using Boot Camp, which preinstalls Windows on the HDD. Reading suggests Linux isn't supported this way. Instead, you'd need to swap the Mac's built-in EFI with a free alternative. I've personally set up Windows 10 via Boot Camp on my Mac to test this approach.
