Heyo, I just acquired a new M.2 storage and wanted to transfer all my important files such as windows and main games there. But when I tried using AOMEI Backupper, it didn’t just copy the files into the new drive; it allocated space for them instead. (Shown in the picture) I’m trying to move everything from my old drive to the new one, but now I can’t delete the reserved space and undo my changes. I’m not sure what to do. Help me! Thank you. I use Windows 10 (likely 64-bit). In the picture these are the drives: - The M.2 drive is disk 2 - The old SSD is disk 1 As you can see, disk 1 has been moved to disk 2. Everything is now on the new drive.

Replicate the storage device. Consider using Macrium Reflect or the software included with the drive. Samsung offers Samsung Data Migration, while Crucial provides Acronis as an option. Duplication fails; cloning includes background files, preventing the system from recognizing changes.

The software restricts cloning to a different partition, and your secondary drive lacks sufficient capacity.

I'm certain you understand the situation. The drive was cloned correctly, but since your M.2 (Disk 2) is larger than the SSD, it used the unused space and created a partition as expected. The concern is whether you wanted your C:\ drive to exist solely on that M.2 without the extra E partition. Or is the problem that you can't wipe the old SSD (Disk 1) to make it all unallocated and then create a partition? Remember, red means clone of green should match exactly. In the red version, your Disk 1/old SSD appears to have been formatted away at some point, which explains why it's no longer allocated.

Great approach. If the problem gets fixed, please label it accordingly and include a detailed note about the solution you implemented. This will help others understand and replicate the fix more easily!

The result wasn’t perfect, but I removed the disk labeled "1TB M.2 SSD" to free it up. Then I merged the unallocated space with a 250GB SSD, effectively linking the E drive and C drive together. The file must be empty before deletion so no data gets lost.
