Issue with Logitech G502 x plus on-board profile switching
I got a Logitech G502 x plus a month ago and something really annoying happens with it. I set two on-board profiles, one with RGB and another one with all the LEDs off, so I can switch in order to turn off the lightnings. The problem is that when I set the RGB-off profile, after a while the mouse goes back to the RGB-on one by itself. I first though I just hit the switch profile button by accident but then I realized that if I press it again to go back to the RGB-off it actually brings me back to the RGB-on profile, and I have to press it a second time to go to the RGB-off (when it works normally I only need to press one time to switch between rbg-on/rgb-off).
It's like at some point, most often during gaming, the mouse automatically goes to a "third" profile that is exactly like the RGB-on one, and to go back to the regular "two profile" state I have to first press the switch-profile button. I have to mention that G-HUB is not running, so I don't see how it could switch to a third profile that is not even set in the on-board memory.
I only have a couple of days left to decide if I want to request a replacement to Amazon, but I'm really not sure if it's a hardware or PC software related problem. If it's software then replacing it is not going to change anything. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I have G-Hub installed (it's required to set RGB and on-board profiles), but I always close it after making my settings and prevent it from launching at startup.
I attempted a reinstall a few weeks ago, including reapplying the profiles to the mouse, but nothing changed. I tried again as an administrator. The issue seems related to the on-board profiles—when G-Hub isn't running, the profiles might still be installed via G-Hub and possibly the drivers for the mouse are included, which could help. I plan to try it again when I return home.
In case someone faces the same problem, I wasn’t able to fully resolve it, but I discovered a workaround. By using the RBG settings through the Onboard Memory Manager software instead of G-Hub, the issues disappeared and everything functioned properly. I also encountered another issue not mentioned earlier—RGB wouldn’t turn off after the idle timeout if it’s longer than two minutes—but that problem is now resolved as well. The main limitation is that with OMM, I can only apply solid colors and a few predefined effects, not custom lightning effects. If you need something beyond the preset options, you’ll have to save your own effect and load it via the "effect on device" menu, which is quite confusing and time-consuming. For some reason, after doing that and selecting the RGB-off profile, the mouse resists restoring the "effect on device," sometimes even activating the lightning effects while I’m on the RGB-off setting.
G-Hub is definitely not ideal, but it works if you stick to simple solid colors for the RBG profile. With OMM, I avoid dealing with G-Hub altogether. It’s a shame that I can’t enable personalized lightning effects on a 160$ RGB mouse without breaking my profiles.
Ignore my earlier remark—it doesn’t help at all (it’s actually even more problematic). I was misled because I relied on the RGB-off setting most often, but when I switched to RGB-on for a while, the mouse returned to an odd state, this time with RGB-off. It was far worse than before; it had no way of staying on for more than a short time. For testing, I set only one profile on the internal memory (the RGB-enabled one) and it worked. Still, it’s frustrating because having two profiles causes the mouse to randomly choose between them, thinking one is default. This leaves me stuck again. At least I can reapply my custom lighting effect since the solid color doesn’t solve the issue.
