Issue with KVM system not responding properly.
Hi everyone, this is really puzzling me. I purchased a KVM switch that functions properly, but every now and then—every 5 to 30 minutes—I notice all USB ports, including the mouse and keyboard, disconnect and reconnect on their own. Everything remains wired. What’s confusing is that I’ve tried various setups to isolate the issue, yet I can’t pinpoint what’s causing it. Here’s what I know:
1) The problem happens with both computers connected via the KVM → likely not related to OS or other hardware.
2) When the mouse and keyboard are plugged directly into either computer (not through the KVM), they work fine → hardware or cable issues are ruled out.
3) After switching to a different KVM from another manufacturer, the problem continues → suggests the original unit might have a defect.
I was hoping the second KVM uses DDM technology to emulate devices on both machines at all times, which could help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Hello and welcome! I'm not familiar with this being a "KVM just do this" problem yet. Operating systems are still evolving, and KVM has become less popular due to software alternatives like Synergy.
