Issue with internet connection when using router mode on the Ubiquiti Airgrid M5
Hello everyone, I'm trying to convert the Airgrid M5 into a router so I can access the internet from anywhere within 2km. Since I don't find any hotspots nearby, I'm having trouble getting the router mode to activate with a PPPOE connection. I suspect the DNS settings might be the issue—I've tried tracing them but got NaN results. Also, pinging Google failed immediately. Could you help me figure this out?
Are you linking directly to your modem or is there another router ahead? It seems likely a conflict exists. If nothing is between it, use PPPoE with proper setup. When there’s a real router, prefer DHCP over PPPoE. Also, your DNS is set to Google servers.
Usually I log in via PPPOE with my credentials once I’m linked to my router. On LAN I switch to a dial-up setup, but the ISP has set up an airgrid that’s not reachable from me.
Are you planning to bring one of these transmitters along? You should know they're meant for connecting between locations, not for wide-area Wi-Fi coverage. Your gadgets don’t come with a 2Km transmitter, and WiFi typically only works over short distances—around a few hundred feet. These work because they use directional antennas.
