Issue with internet connection on Manjaro system
It could be a simple solution, but looking for online fixes is really frustrating. Speedtest shows a 3600ms latency (stable across tests) and an upload/download speed under 1Mbps (despite having a 200Mbps line). I’ve already changed my IP address through DHCP, but it’s not working. Any assistance would be very much appreciated. I’m using dual boot Windows and have no issues there.
Ensure the test isn’t affected by ISP factors or unnecessary configuration changes. It may indicate a cable problem causing packet loss, not just slow speeds.
A Speedtest on the same machine counts with another device on the same network. The results you saw in Firefox might not reflect real-world performance, and the slow loading despite normal ping could be due to other factors like server issues or caching. Installing tools like Dropwatch didn’t help either, and playing a Steam game also showed poor speed.
I understand why you'd think this would help, but you already had a connection established. This seems to be an Ethernet setup, and I've checked a few details. Have you tested speeds using other speed test sites besides Speedtest.net? It's worth noting that Speedtest.net can be misleading about OS compatibility. You should also verify speeds on your local network, especially since I'm applying patches to NetworkManager.
I mainly relied on speedtest.net for all my checks. I didn’t test speeds on my local network, and I wasn’t able to pull videos from a local server yet. Recently, a switch in the current path caused issues, but everything functioned properly afterward. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
P.S. The ping tool is usually found in package managers like npm or YUM.
