Hello, welcome! Your new Ryzen 3500U laptop with 8GB DRR4 RAM is a solid choice for your studies abroad. Regarding the RAM swap, Flex mode can still function on mobile Ryzen processors, though performance may vary depending on the specific model and configuration. The vendor has reportedly included support for higher configurations like 4+8 GB, so it’s worth testing in real conditions. If you notice significant slowdowns, consider monitoring usage or keeping the RAM at a minimum. Best of luck with your studies!

Function works but isn't optimal (slower than dual channel)

Certainly, I appreciate your input regarding the s540 conversation. I’d like to consider alternative perspectives as well. For instance, some discussions on YouTube about the s340 model mention the possibility of handling up to 16 gigabytes without significant issues.

For this item, the PICASSO system includes two memory modules: one for Channel A using DDR4 and another for Channel B integrated on the board. To enable dual-channel operation, make sure both modules use the same DDR4 memory type.

They adding a second RAM controller does let you exceed 4GB in the second SODIMM slot without slowing things down, correct? I’m not very familiar with CPU design, but what I found online suggests most desktop Zen chips have just one memory controller. It’s interesting that mobile models use two.

This review serves as a standard for the 3500u laptop with 8+4 settings. Its performance matches that of a typical average 3500u model, indicating the RAM setup isn't causing problems.

I received a 16 GB RAM module and installed it in my laptop, achieving a 4+16 configuration. Everything functions properly with no noticeable performance drops during regular use. My main worry was gaming performance, but FPS stayed consistent. I tested it with Overwatch to see if it meets expectations for this type of machine. It’s not the best option, but it works adequately.
