Issue with GPU or power supply?
I'm facing a problem with my main rig. Yesterday everything worked perfectly, but today when I powered it on, there was no display output. However, the RGB lighting is still functioning properly.
So far, I've done these things:
1. I unplugged and plugged all cables back in, but the display issue remains.
2. I thought the GPU might be faulty, so I used my power supply tester. The screen showed the +12V2 rail as "L" (low voltage) and the PG signal was 180 ms.
3. To investigate further, I replaced my current GPU with an old AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, and everything started working normally.
I'm not sure if the problem is with the power supply or the GPU. The low voltage reading on the +12V2 rail might point to an issue with the power supply, but it's also possible that my GPU is defective.
If your tester pointed out a problem with the PSU, it makes sense to check there first. I’m curious if you have another low-power graphics card available to see if the system behaves normally without using extra PCIe power cables. Missing the 3080 would definitely be disappointing.
I'm not sure about the best choice. Could you clarify whether you should stick with the current power supply, upgrade to a stronger one, or switch to a 1200W unit?
It would suggest pointing to a new PSU and increasing the voltage for a 3080, which would be preferable. Also, ensure your BIOS is updated to the latest version, as this supports Rx 5700xt compatibility. However, it seems the PSU might have a faulty rail, a typical failure point.
It seems you're asking about the specific model of a 1000W EVGA device, but the details are missing. Could you provide more information or clarify your question?
