Issue with GPU causing head scratching problem
Issue with GPU causing head scratching problem
Yesterday, I was working as usual on the company PC when suddenly I lost the image on my two monitors...
I turned off the PC using the button, expecting the worst, and when I tried to turn it on, I heard a beep... beep... beep. After checking, I thought the GPU (a Quadro P620) might be the issue.
I cleaned the PC with compressed air on the motherboard's PCI slot, but the problem persisted.
I replaced it with an old graphics card (GT 730) in another PC, which resolved the issue.
Now I’m puzzled. I used the GT 730 in another PC that wasn’t running, still using Windows 7, and it worked perfectly. I even ran Furmark to test if it would crash under stress, but it didn’t.
Then I put the Quadro back in the test PC, connected it to my own system, and it started working. I shut it down, put the cover back on, pressed the power button again and... beep... beep.
After reinstalling the Quadro in Windows 7, everything functioned normally, and the GT 730 also worked without problems. I use Solidworks, so it would be helpful to have the Quadro on just one monitor now...
Anyone can clarify what’s happening?
