Issue with freezing in Battlefield 3 single-player campaign?
Hello everyone, here are my system details: a dual-core E7500 2.93 GHz processor, 4 GB DDR2 RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 with 2 GB GDDR3, a 500 GB HDD, and Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I recently purchased a Battlefield 3 CD from an offline store. Usually I don’t play multiplayer, so I bought this game just for its offline campaign. When I started playing, I used low settings and the first mission took about 5 seconds to freeze once. After that, I encountered frequent freezes, with the game freezing for 5 to 10 seconds every 15 to 20 seconds. I’m really frustrated and don’t want my money to be wasted. My friend has similar specs except his CPU is an E6500 and he doesn’t experience any freezes. He tried reinstalling the game and drivers, and also tried disabling Origin and starting without it, but since I only play single-player campaigns, I need help fixing this issue. I appreciate your support.
Back then I had to boost my platform, a Q9550 to 2.93GHz, and the RAM to DDR3-1600MHz in order to achieve smooth gameplay on an HD6970. You seem to have much lower specifications than what I had, and I think your power supply might not be able to cope with the demands during intense gaming sessions since those games were really tough on the CPU and overall system.
Talk about demanding! What brand and model of your PSU are you using, and how old is it? Also, could you provide a link to the store where you bought the game?
link of store? i'm referring to a real physical shop, not an online one. my psu is Corsair CV450 with 450 watts, it's only a year old and the freezing problem appears only on Battlefield 3. I also have Battlefield 4, and after completing its campaign there were no freezing issues. I don't play online games much—actually, I prefer offline play because of poor internet. I buy games only for campaigns. Are you suggesting that Battlefield 4 requires less power than Battlefield 3? I also own MG5 TPP, GTA V, and they are more demanding than Battlefield 3 but have no freezing problems. My friend has a similar PC except for his CPU being an older Core 2 Duo E6500, which is worse than mine, and his PSU is also inferior. Still, his average FPS is lower, but he doesn't experience freezing and would have around 50-60 FPS if it worked. When the game runs smoothly, my system performs well. I believe there might be a bug, but I still hope for a fix. I'm willing to accept lower graphics quality if the freezing issue is resolved.
However, the game store address seems unappealing—link of store on Boring Road, Patna, Bihar, India, Asia.
