Hey guys-
Two days back my desktop PC became really slow. Starting from boot, it takes 5 to 10 minutes to get going. Any click or action takes 2 to 3 minutes to respond. My motherboard is showing a “Boot Device Abnormal” message. The drive I just installed—a brand-new 2TB 870 EVO SSD from September—is the boot device. While checking inside, the PSU fan started making noise. I felt the case and noticed it was warm, probably around 120° F. The fan noise came and went. I’m not very familiar with how the PSU connects to the rest of the system, but could a failing PSU be affecting the SSD and causing it to slow down? Everything else seems normal, the drives look fine. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The PSU is a Corsair CX750M, roughly seven years old. When I mention it runs slowly, it might be more accurate to say it functions briefly before stopping. There are moments when the screen becomes blank, programs close unexpectedly, and strange behaviors occur. If the screen goes dark, it may resume after a while and continue from where it left off. After a few clicks, it attempts to execute commands, but usually freezes again. Opening a browser lets me play music normally, unless I click something, then it might stutter or crash. This suggests the drive is experiencing fluctuating voltage. A new power supply is on its way, so I’ll find out if that’s the issue by Monday.

Sure, the PS is likely the reason, having been useful for seven years.

So guys, I’ve come back after setting up my new Corsair RM750x PSU. Sadly, the computer still acts the same (though the power supply fan is now silent!). I’m planning to use a System Restore. If that doesn’t help, I might have to suspect my new C drive is damaged. Any advice?
