CPU 5950x
GPU 9070xt oc,
Memory 4x8@2666mhz (corsair vengance matched kits)
Hello, this bothers me. I wanna be able to play dota 2 on stable fps. No bs! (and stream)
I went from having 73 fps average on dota 2. (formatted my computer) and now i can get around 200-240 (up and down) at start of game
then it plummits and if i open the shop later on at end game, it can even plummit to 70-100 fps again.
Its a crappy optimized bs game. we all know that. but . . . . . . i happen to love that craeppy bs game and its saddening to see it be taken away from us, because devs are pogs.
Could you help me try to fix this, for all of internet for history's sake?
SO: i used to have 73 average fps on this game, with this specification and also when i had my 2070 rtx instead.
Now i get a sorta premium experience, but it plummits also back to where its not fun to play anymore (this game needs fps, otherwise its not fun. it need to be stable. no bs)
Any suggestions? Now keep in mind, some of you will say "well thats just how the game is" . . . to which i will say, i just went from having 73 average fps, to 200-240 start game, then gradual decrease . . .
So I know, this game can do better, since a 2700x cpu could run it at those fps numbers, in its prime. its a bloated game. any suggestions on how to get it stable?
If i would have listened to "thats just how that game is" id still be at 73 fps with my rtx 9070, pardon, RX XT 9070 OC.
SO PLEASE PEAPEL, HELP ME!!!!11111111111
ALSO: noteworthy, when you are stuck in 73 fps dota hell, it dont matter if you run it at 40% rendering resolution, everything on low settings. . . . the game just chokes at 70-80 or 99 fps . . .(if lucky). . .
so its something going on with something . . . .if we manage to figure out what that something is. . . . . and fix it . . . . . then . . . . . . dota 2 might be able to become a viable game again . . . (meaning, people can max all settings, run the game at ALWAYS table 240 fps. no bs. constant.
then people might be able to wanna play dota 2 again.
SO ARE UP FOR FIXING THIS PEEEPEL????
wish u have good evening

Updates: understanding the situation
1. If your CPU struggles with Dota 2 frame rates, it doesn’t really depend on the video settings you use. You can play the game at 40% rendering quality and still experience significant drops—sometimes reaching 73 FPS, fluctuating up to around 90 or even higher if you’re lucky.
2. The CPU limitation in Dota 2 (something others face too) behaves like an elevator moving up and down a building.
The game’s frame rate isn’t determined by your camera settings; rather, it depends on where your character is moving. That’s likely why it’s classified as a CPU-bound game.
If you begin the match and monitor the FPS meter, you’ll notice it consistently matches the same values depending on your character’s path—not your camera position.
For example: at the start, in the fountain area, you see 124 FPS, which is disappointing. As you move forward, it climbs to 174, which feels great. When you walk straight ahead, it jumps to 280 FPS—amazing!
This pattern repeats every time, according to my experience.
So, the game’s performance limitation is (CPU-dependent).
Additionally, regarding the “elevator floors” concept:
see this (based on what I’ve experienced, though I played for a year at 73 FPS):
if you adjust FPS_MAX to 120,
floor 1 will sit between 30–40 FPS
floor 2 between 60–70 FPS
floor 3 around 80–100 (though it rarely reaches your target cap)
basement floor: 80–100 FPS.
Honestly, this feels quite unfair from a technical standpoint. Many players have faced similar problems with older setups still managing 144 FPS.
If you’re wondering how to improve stability or get more consistent frames, it might help to explore settings or commands that influence CPU usage.
Also, what drives the “elevator floor” effect—does it relate to CPU load levels and how we can fix it?
(This is for gamers, revolutionaries, and anyone who loves games.)
Wish you a great evening and enjoy your meal!)
