Hi everyone! I bought a D-Link DGE-528T PCI Gigabit NIC a few days back and installed it on my old PC. After setting the driver to "1 Gbit Full Duplex," I ran a speed test and got only 170 Mbps, far below the expected 300 MBps. Could there be a fix? Thanks in advance!

The processor is quite outdated. It could be limiting performance. I once had a similar setup and believe it likely couldn’t handle much beyond a 100 megabit link.

Consider that speedtest tools may strain your web browser, which is generally fine on modern PCs, though a slow CPU might affect performance. I’d attempt downloading a big file or something from Steam to see how it really behaves. Are there other devices connected to the network that show you can achieve 300Mbit through your router? It’s not unusual for routers to have trouble reaching that speed, particularly if they’re older than your computer.

It's good to hear, then I'd just test some downloads and check their performance.
