You're experiencing an issue where launching CS:GO sets your microphone volume to 100, causing unwanted background noise. It seems the problem persists even after uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Have you checked if there are any custom settings or scripts affecting audio levels? Also, consider clearing your system sound settings or trying a different audio driver if available.

The issue seems to stem from your microphone, not the settings. Is it connected via the rear I/O port?

Adjust the audio controls within the game itself.

Unfortunately, the issue is that my front I/O is faulty. One time I missed seeing the cord on the chair arm, turned it left, and the headset sound cable was crooked—plus the ring came off. The mic still works fine. Speaking of mics, I need to use an old one as a mic and the new one for audio. It connects to Steam’s mic settings, but it’s really poor quality. Plus, it also links my mic volume, which is annoying.

It's best to avoid using the front I/0 for analog signals because of electrical interference. Since you're already dealing with the rear I/O, it might be time to switch to a new microphone.

The issue is that the headset I have right now is brand new, so it's fine. However, during testing, there was a lot of interference which made my ears hurt sometimes. It might be worth checking it out before anything worse happens. Also, I had to turn off the front I/O detection on Realtek a few months ago because it would falsely report disconnected jacks, stopped the mic, and caused loud feedback when I listened. With Stereo Mix enabled, the sound was very real and intense, making me think there were countless tiny things around me. I prefer getting a new setup rather than fixing this one. Do you notice unwanted signals or loud static? Is the issue coming from outside your mic or from the mic itself? These are completely separate concerns.

I connected the front I/O and, during a call, checked if my microphone was producing sound. It showed 3 bars without any speech, so I turned on the listen mode. The audio had a lot of background noise and static. But it was just background noise—my mistake calling it interference.

As long as it's just background noise, it's time for a fresh mic. Any new mic from New Mic would work well. Edited July 11, 2015 by Lotus
